This is when you should be putting that sweat equity

If it's one thing I love to do, it's learning from people. Social Media has allowed me to get in front of a lot of people and ask them personal questions. I have built up enough trust with my community by being transparent and always offering value that they will wholeheartedly answer very personal things that they wouldn't with others.

The truth is right now so many people are struggling financially, emotionally, as well as spiritually. You see it all over Social Media. There are more people talking about death, suicide, financial situations than ever before and that's due to the pandemic. I don't talk much about how my career has not only freed up valuable time but allowed me to help certain people I know get through had times financially. I don't say this to pat myself on the back either. I'm saying this because I know that not many people will read this blog post. The ones who do, I appreciate it.

There has never been a better time in the history of Man to build something that you are passionate about and get paid for it. That doesn't mean you won't struggle along the way because when you finally decide that you are going to go after what you want, no one will listen to you, no one is going to share your posts, and quite possibly no one is going to even give you the light of day. What people fail to understand is that is part of the journey. Those days you look into the mirror and question your life decisions all while trying to hype yourself up to keep going will come. I know these feelings all too well. It is in those moments you have to keep moving forward.

When you are thinking about sleeping later this Holiday Season because you are off work, or in the unfortunate circumstance you don't have a job, sweat equity is going to be your best friend. Most times when you are trying to achieve something bigger than yourself, you're going to have to do 100% FREE WORK. A lot of people have opposing views on FREE WORK but I can guarantee you that it had helped me financially in the long run. I still do free work to this day but now I get to choose who I do it for.

My point is, it doesn't matter if it's Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or if we're going through a Pandemic, you're still going to have to get up and make things happen. It will only ever be you that gets to decide what your future will become.

There are a few times in my life that made me really question if I was headed in the right direction. When my daughter turned 4 and was able to actually have conversations with me, something happened that changed the course of my life. It was a regular day when I got home from my 9-5 job which I had just gotten a raise from. There I was playing with her laughing and dancing around when these 5 words changed the course of my life. "Can I have a snack?" I opened the fridge and there was nothing in there.

I can't begin to tell you the feeling of failure that came to me. Here I was thinking I was successful with a few dollars in my bank account and no food in my fridge to feed my Family. I carry that feeling with me to this day to remind me of when I "Feel Successful", there is so much more that needs to be done. That feeling alone has pushed me to learn more, take more risks, and push myself as far as I can go.

It will be events like that that will have such a profound effect on you that will force you to change how you view the world around you. I can't tell you how many times I've failed over and over again until I got it right. Even now, I still fail but I take more calculated risks to minimize the risks.

With the Holiday Season quickly approaching, I felt it was necessary to write this article to scream at the top of my lungs that when you're thinking about sleeping longer during this break, you need to get your ass up and do the work to get your Side Hustle where it needs to be. We all have the same amount of time, 24hrs. How you spend that time is going to be crucial. Some people live by the model of 8hrs of Work, 8 Hrs of Sleep, and 8 Hrs to Party. I'm not here to tell you how to live your life, but if you can't allocate the time to work on your side hustle, this lifestyle might not be for you. I say that with much respect and love.

Here are 5 tips that will help you move closer to your goals:

  1. Do something that actually interests you. Don't let people tell you that you can't make a living doing the things that you truly love, but make sure you understand that you're going to have to outwork everyone around you. There are literally people out there right now that are doing what they love making a very good living doing it because they figured out how to get people to pay them for what they love.

  2. Invest MORE time. This goes back to the whole sleeping during your vacation. Invest more time into your craft or side hustle. Time is the most valuable thing you'll ever have. You will quickly realize it when you start getting older and look back at what you've accomplished.

  3. Learn everything about your side hustle. I will be the first person to tell you that I am an ALL A Student at YouTube University. It's the best educational and informational form of learning I have ever used. There are so many places you can learn to do your craft better. Mentors, Internships, and the Internet are just a few of the best places to start.

  4. IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT, IMPLEMENT! So you did all your learning but the best education is actually doing the work. So many people stay tuck on the learning process and never actually get to the doing part of it. Why do you think you hear so many people say, "This is what I'm going to do" and never actually do it. They stay stuck in the learning phase. If you can, learn and do at the same time.

  5. Claim your spot. So now you have your side hustle and it's starting to grow. Tell everyone about it. As simple as it sounds, people just won't tell people about their business. It can sometimes feel like a self-righteous journey when you talk about yourself or your business and what you're going to do. Get over it. If you don't tell anyone about what you're doing, it's going to stay your best-kept secret.

If you want, get your beauty sleep, but if you're serious about doing the things you love in life and getting paid for it, get to work. There has never been an easier time in the history of HUMANITY to build the life you have always wanted. It's going to take sacrifice, money, time, and that feeling of failure that is going to get you to where you need to be.

Do the best you can with what you have and you'll be just fine. Keep moving forward and don't ever stop.
