Start Preparing for your Holiday Marketing and Advertising

Holidays are coming up fast and it's time to start utilizing them in your marketing and advertising campaigns. When it comes to retail and commerce, the Christmas season is the busiest time of the entire year. People are out to spend money and it's your job to convince them to spend money on your products and services. Even with a Pandemic going on, people are still spending money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need and you can be positioned to capture some of that market share. So if you haven’t started planning for your holiday marketing and advertising campaign, now is the time. Here are some tips to help you out:

1) Plan for a creative strategy and concept ahead of time

One of the most important parts of any marketing campaign is planning. This is where you will answer all questions related to your efforts. What products do I intend to focus on? What is my concept? How will I extend this concept to others? What message do I want to send?

A good holiday marketing campaign doesn’t just focus on the product or service itself but on the needs of the consumers. For example, Christmas is all about bringing family together and celebrating loved ones. Never has giving people the feeling of community and support been more important as it has been throughout this pandemic. So perhaps the idea of your product bringing people together is something you can focus your campaign on.

Or, go very niche and go after an audience that will fall in love with your product. The Holiday season creates an opportunity to get in front a whole new audience that can help you grow even bigger in 2021.

2) Create anticipation

Holidays are all about the buildup and anticipation. Children can’t wait for Santa Clause to come, and parents can’t wait to see the look on their children's faces on Christmas morning. But parents also love the anticipation of a great deal! The holiday seasons are all about buying, but also about saving. So give your audience something to anticipate - starting now. Let them in on an upcoming discount or product bundle that you plan to release in the near future. If they anticipate, they will come back to learn more later.

3) Theme your campaign

Holidays are all about creating themes and during Christmas there are lots of different themes to choose from. Keep things simple and stick to one or two different themes. Will you be having a white Christmas? Or is Santa Claus coming to town? Perhaps your main theme is bringing the community together or celebrating Christmas with loved ones? Select your theme and then plaster your social media accounts with familiar colors and recognizable characters to get your audience in the mood.

4) Remember the importance of Hashtags

The hashtags that you choose for your holiday campaign could be the difference between 10 new followers and 10000 new followers, so choose your hashtags wisely. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your holiday hashtags:

● Use hashtags that are trending. If you aren’t sure which hashtags these are, look up a popular social media influencer to see what hashtags they are using - and then use them yourself.

● Use hashtags related to your industry.

● Focus on popular holiday hashtags like #holidaygifts or #holidaysale

Finally, always remember to be yourself. This is the number one tip we can give for any type of social media campaign. If you aren’t authentically yourself, people will see right through you.
