How to use TikTok for Business

Is it even possible to use TikTok for Business? You've seen it or at least heard about the fastest growing App in the App Market. It's been scrutinized by the Government for its privacy and crapped on by Trump. The fact is, it's just one of the newest iterations of Social Media.

For context, TikTok demographics as of January 2021 show that :

41% of users are between the ages of 16-24 years of age

56% of users are Male with 44% Female

29.5% between the ages of 20-29

14% between the ages of 40-49

7% 50+

I have no doubt in my professional mind that an older demographic is going to flood this app in the near future. And what you should really keep in mind if you are an Advertiser/Marketer is that the 41% between the ages of 16-24 are starting to get into the workplace who are ultimately going to start pumping money back into the system.

So let's get into the nitty-gritty of How to use TikTok for Business. In this article, I'll give you 6 tips on how to use TikTok from a Business Perspective. The best part about this is you won't have to do those cheesy dances that you see kids doing.

Tip #1 Answer Questions and Offer Quick Tips.

Just like this article, I'm giving 5 tips on how to use TikTok for Business, you'll take that same strategy and condense it down into 60 seconds. The great thing about TikTok is how fast it is. I call it the crack of the internet. You know this to be true if you have ever been on it. It was literally designed to bombard you with engaging content the second you open it. It feeds you that dopamine hit that Social Networks are famous for implementing on their apps.

Another great way to use TikTok for Business is by answering questions. Chances are if you are a Business Owner, you have a lot of knowledge you can share with the world. For example, you can answer the most commonly asked questions. See my TikTok below for context.

Tip #2 Know what you're talking about

There is nothing more frustrating than listening to someone talk through a whole 30 minute YouTube Video and never get to the point. Especially if they don't know how to use YouTube correctly as far as YouTube SEO and create chapters for people to skip forward to the good stuff. This is where knowing what you're talking about is key. I suggest planning out your content either by typing it out, writing it down, or gathering bullet points so you can quickly get across what you need without all the extra fluff. People won't come back if you aren't offering them value.

Tip #3 Invite them back & tell them to follow you

One of the biggest mistakes people make is not inviting people back to consume more of your content. The fact is you stand a better chance at gaining followers by going in for the ask. If you have provided valuable content, going in for that ask shouldn't be a problem and it'll be an easy task for someone to complete. They almost feel guilty for taking all that value you just provided and not doing the little thing you asked for. That sounds something like, "Hey, if you found value in these 5 tips I just shared, give my page a follow because tomorrow I'll be giving out 5 more tips on how to do....."

Tip #4 Pick trending music

Long before TikToks explosive growth, they acquired a well know company called Musical.ly for the whopping amount of $1 Billion back in November of 2017 so Music has always been a huge component of TikTok. But the way you can leverage this is by adding trending music to your TikTok which can trigger the algorithm and get a ton of new eye balls on your content. All you have to do is click "Sounds" on the lower left-hand corner, add recommended sounds or click more for other options. From here it will allow you to pick from a ton of options including Viral Music. Pick the song you are happy with and adjust the volume accordingly by clicking "Volume" on the lower right-hand corner of your phone screen.

See the pics below for how to add Music to your Videos.

TikTok Hashtags

Tip #5 Hashtags

Remember when Hashtags used to work on Instagram? Well if you're anything like me, you probably think Instagram hates you and the algorithm isn't showing you any love, at all! Hashtags might not work on IG like they used to, but they do on TikTok, and adding them to your Video Descriptions will push your video content in front of a lot more people. The science behind Hashtags is simply to group specific content together.

For example, if you use the hashtag #PersonalBranding you'll be directed to a page where there is just a ton of Personal Branding Content. You'll need to add these after your description.

Simply type # and your word and it will autopopulate options for you to easily pick. Pick the ones with the highest numbers. Try adding the ones that make sense for your Video.

Tip #6 Use Thumbnails

A Thumbnail serves a very powerful purpose and that's getting the CLICK. The thumbnail is the first thing people will see before your video starts to play. If it looks like something interesting, you'll earn that click and it won't matter how much time you put into that TikTok, you run the risk of your video not being viewed.

At the end of the day, TikTok is where Facebook and Instagram used to be when the engagement was at an all-time high. I regret not going all-in on FB and IG when it was the wild wild west. TikTok is in the Wild Wild West phase where there aren't enough good creators on the app and attention is gained very easily. I shit you not, people are blowing up on TikTok for the dumbest reason in the world and you have your chance to partake in that same explosive growth. The best part about it is you can use it from a Business Perspective and become a Leader to that young demographic who is about to start pumping money back into the economy.

Set yourself up for success now. Take 5-10 hours learning how to use this platform. These 6 tips will help you optimize your TikTok Channel and you're off to the races. Don't get discouraged if youTikToks don't perform well, they will suck in the beginning but once you start using it more, you'll start to see trends that you can capitalize on.
